Author Series: Thom Henninger | Baseball Hall of Fame
Our Authors Series brings noted baseball authors to Cooperstown for special lectures and book signings during the summer months. These programs are included with the cost of admission.
On Wednesday, June 24th at 1pm, the Hall of Fame will welcome author Thom Henninger to talk about his new book, Tony Oliva: The Life and Times of a Minnesota Twins Legend.
One of the most beloved players in the history of the Minnesota Twins, Tony Oliva failed to impress the franchise during an initial tryout, but the fracturing of Cuban-American relations resulted in a second chance with the organization and permanent residence in the United States. Noted Minnesota writer Thom Henninger, an associate editor at Baseball Digest, examines Oliva within the perspective of 1960s culture, while also offering insight into one of the game’s greatest pure hitters.
The program includes a presentation by Henninger, followed by a book signing in the Library Atrium. Presentation at 1 pm. Book signing at 1:30 pm.
